Who We Are

_GCP6808Monsanto is committed to bringing a broad range of solutions to help nourish our growing world. We produce seeds for fruits, vegetables and key crops—such as corn, soybeans and cotton—that help farmers have better harvests while using water and other important resources more efficiently.

We work to find sustainable solutions for soil health, help farmers use data to improve farming practices and conserve natural resources, and provide crop protection products to minimize damage from pests and disease. Through programs and partnerships, we collaborate with farmers, researchers, nonprofit organizations, universities and others to help tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Monsanto_Corn_YoungMonsanto Caribe LLC is part of the Puerto Rico seed breeding industry. Monsanto has operated in Puerto Rico since 1996, when it acquired Asgrow Seeds. Asgrow had been operating in Puerto Rico since 1983.

Monsanto’s operations on the Island consist of agricultural biotechnology and plant breeding research to develop the best soybeans, cotton and corn seeds for farmers. The seeds produced here are then sent to other Monsanto sites for additional testing and for large-scale seed production.

Here in Puerto Rico, at Monsanto Caribe, our operations consist of:

  • Trait & Pipeline Delivery – It consists of the process of combining the best features or genetic traits in corn, cotton and soybean crops in order to improve the seeds, so farmers can improve their harvest yields. These crops have multiple tests done to ensure they can thrive and survive more efficiently in their environment.
  • Supply Chain – We work on the cultivation of soybeans and corn multiple times during the year in order to multiply the seeds.
