PRMA RECOGNIZED MONSANTO PUERTO RICO WITH SAFETY AWARDS

For the fourth consecutive year, the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) recognized Monsanto Caribe LLC for their commitment to and achievement in safety. At the Business Continuity Workshop held at the Sheraton Convention Center, the PRMA bestowed Monsanto two (2) safety achievement awards: The Distinguished Safety Performance Award and the Meritorious Improvement Award. The awards were received by Miguel Pereira, Monsanto’s Puerto Rico Community Affairs Manager.

The Distinguished Safety Performance Award is granted to those companies with recordable injury records 90% or more below the national average rate for their specific type of industrial operation, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And, the Meritorious Improvement Award is granted to companies with a 25% or greater reduction in the total recordable injury rate during the calendar year compared to the previous year.

Tania Álvarez, president of PRMA’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee, presents  Miguel Pereira with Monsanto’s 2018 Safety Achievement Awards

“At Monsanto, the safety and wellbeing of our employees is our top priority. Every day, we care about and take care of the health and safety of each of them, aiming to have them leave our facilities, at the end of the day, just as safe and healthy, if not more, than they arrived,” highlighted Agro. Eric Torres, FTO manager of the Monsanto site in Puerto Rico. “These awards reflect our commitment to have a safe working environment.”

“We are very proud – both of the excellent and hard work our Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Team has done to communicate and implement our safety programs, and of our employees, who have integrated these safety practices into their daily tasks. Congratulations, and thank you, to all of our employees who have made these awards possible, and kept our working areas safe for all,” expressed Agro. Rosa Guerrero, general manager at Monsanto in Puerto Rico.

These are the latest honors of many the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) has awarded Monsanto on their safety practices and programs.

Last year, at the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety Summit, Monsanto was awarded the PRMA’s highest award in environmental, occupational health and safety, The Safety Idol. The award, based on the votes of the summit attendees, went to Monsanto for its worker protection standard restricted-entry interval app for mobile devices (REI App).
