The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association recently held their Annual Occupational Safety and Health Summit. With the theme: “Together for a Safe and Healthy Puerto Rico”, this activity recognizes companies with good performance in terms of health and safety indicators that have led to the reduction of injuries or accidents at the workplace. They also recognize professionals in the occupational health and safety field as well as good practices that contribute in reducing accidents and injuries.
At this event, they present awards in five different categories: Award for Distinguished Safety Performance, Award for Safety Achievement, President’s Award, and Award for Excellence in Safety, Meritorious Improvement Award.
Both Monsanto sites in Puerto Rico, Juana Díaz and Isabela, were recognized with awards:
Juana Díaz was recognized with the President’s Award. This award is granted to those companies with health and safety frequency rate from 50% to 74% below the average national frequency rate for a specific type of industrial operation.
Isabela was recognized with the Distinguished Safety Performance Award. This award is granted to those companies with health and safety frequency rate which is 90% or more below the average national frequency rate for a specific type of industrial operation. This means that less workers and families have suffered the negative effect of accidents and that they have been able to enjoy good health for a good life!
