This past August, Monsanto joined Puerto Rico Manufacturing Extension, Inc. (PRIMEX) and eight other companies in the celebration of 2016 Manufacturing Week. This week-long series of events across all of Puerto Rico is an offshoot of Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY), an annual event during which North American manufacturers open their doors to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.
During Manufacturing Week, our colleagues Alex Muñiz, Hector Matos and Mariver Rojas hosted a guided tour of Monsanto’s manufacturing and greenhouse facilities for 11 guests from the Technological Institute of Manatí. Also, our colleagues Alex Muñiz and Veronica Miranda gave a keynote on manufacturing processes applied to the agricultural and agricultural biotechnology industries to over 400 high school students at the Guayama Convention Center.
“At Monsanto, we are firmly committed to support and participate in educational programs – particularly in science and agriculture – for students around the world,” said Miguel Pereira, Monsanto Puerto Rico Community Affairs Manager. “We are more than pleased to participate in this event, aimed at inspiring students to follow careers in – or revolutionize – the local manufacturing, technology and agricultural industries.”
